Xiaomi has launched the compact Mi 9 SE smartphone. A downsized version of the Mi 9, with a cheaper price point and only slightly moderated specification. It features Qualcomm’s brand new Snapdragon 712 processor, an upgrade to the Snapdragon 710 chipset.

The form factor will suit those looking for a slightly less imposing mobile. The 5.99-inch large Dot Drop display, is comparable to a classic phone with a 5.1-inch screen, says Xiaomi.

As seen on the Mi 9, the Mi 9 SE has a holographic rainbow spectrum surface on the back cover, and uses a Samsung AMOLED screen, with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.1 storage, Sony IMX586 sensor and an in-screen fingerprint sensor module.

The Mi 9 SE uses a three-lens camera setup, with a 48MP main sensor, 13MP ultra wide-angle lens and 8MP telephoto lens. It sells for £349 for the 6GB+64GB variant, and £399 for 6GB+128GB. Online shopper at Mi.com will also get to choose the 64GB variant in Ocean Blue and the 128GB variant in Piano Black and Ocean Blue.

The Mi 9 SE is now available at the London Mi Store, Westfield White City, in both 6+64GB (Ocean Blue) and 6+128GB (Piano Black).
