Seamlessly integrating technology with interior design is an ongoing challenge, but at Decorex 2014 specialist supplier of home automation and AV technologies Habitech believes it can inspire designers and specifiers with a range of slick solutions.

For canny designers, there’s no dodging the demands of clients aspiring to smarter homes. The requirement to route Ethernet and control cables around a house, and install reliable Wi-Fi is as important as supplying electricity and plumbing. Consequently, there has never been a more pressing need for closer collaboration between the architectural and design community and custom integrators.

So at Decorex 2014, Habitech will be showing off a range of compelling interiors products: Sonance in-wall and ceiling loudspeakers (pictured above) and Wall-Smart keypad mounts will be available for a hands-on. The distributor maintains it’s never been easier to coordinate speakers, keypads and touch panels precisely with room décor.

Making their debut at the show will be the new Sonance Architectural Series loudspeakers, which offer a unique bezel-free flush-grille ceiling installation, eliminating the presence of shadow lines to achieve a flawless surface uniformity. These can be specified in round or square versions and are available 6.5-inch models and super-compact 3.5-inch versions. The latter are largely indistinguishable from standard down-lights. They will be joined by a line of matching in-ceiling subwoofers.

For a truly seamless surface blend, Sonance provides a plaster-board former with integral speaker bracket accommodating protective pop-out plates for easy skimming, sanding and painting.

Also on display will be Wall-Smart’s completely flush touch screen panel and keypad mounting system designed to make iPads and a wide range of control, lighting and air-conditioning keypads and touchscreens ‘disappear’ into the wall. It offers completely flush, paintable and accessible mounts, custom-made for iOS, Crestron, Control4, Philips Dynalite, NuVo, Sonance, Savant, RTI, Luton Homeworks, Rako and others. Meanwhile, Trufig will offer additional concealment technologies for wall pads and power plugs.

Habitech MD Jonathan Pengilley says: “We’ve made the investment at Decorex because we can offer a range of products that changes the way interior designers think about technology. It gives us the opportunity to explore the mutual benefits that flow from the flawless integration of technology with room design.”

Decorex runs from 21-24 September at Syon Park, London. Habitech can be found on Stand C70.
