For the past three years, Crestron has taken permanent residence at the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour, to showcase its products to designers and architects. Wanting to refresh its showroom to better demonstrate how technology can facilitate exquisite interior design and a modern luxury lifestyle while remaining hidden to the naked eye, Crestron has redesigned it with furnishings from leading high-end interior brands.

Designed as an inspirational space for interior designers, architects and integrators to bring their clients to explore home automation, the showroom is the perfect venue to experience the ways in which a stunning interior décor can be intertwined with technology.

As Crestron’s Nick Fichte points out, “Interior designers and architects want to see not how technology works, but that it works and at it integrates seamlessly with their designs.”

The immersive smart home experience includes: a high-spec kitchen, spacious dining room, media room, home office and a snug space with a fire place for intimate entertainment. There is also a meeting room with video conferencing facilities and a products area to see the individual Crestron products. Stunning lighting scenes and state-of-the-art AV, controlled by Crestron technology, complements each area.

The control options are at your fingertips, with Crestron tablets and remote controls strategically located around the showroom. Crestron’s new remote, the TSR-302 has a generous touch screen and buttons. All entertainment, heating, and lighting can be orchestrated form the comfort of the sofa. The remotes use Crestron’s proprietary wireless technology, infiNET EX so that there is no signal disruption between the control and the display and player.

The in wall touch screen control panels showcase Crestron’s Home Elements, an intuitive user interface that allows installers and users to set up standard system functionality without the need to write code. The Home Elements toolkit ties into Crestron’s VT Pro-e to provide amasing new user experience across all its TSW touch screens, TSR-302 and MLX-3 remotes, as well as iOS devices.

Showroom guests are invited to experiment with the Crestron technology to create different ambient settings and discover how smart technology could enhance their lifestyle. The wall controls background can be Visible elements of the home control solution, such as keypads and iPads, demonstrate how easily technology can be blended into beautiful interior design without being imposing.

The entertainment sources, including 4K movies and gaming, are managed form Crestron’s Digital Media Video Matrix, strategically stored in the AV rack. Users can choose to watch movies on the 65’ Samsung screen as well as on the 110’ projection screen and with a Sony 4K projector. Both screen and projector retract onto the ceiling when not in use.

The full immersive cinema experience is achieved thanks to Crestron’s discreet Aspire in wall and ceiling speakers, completed with its subwoofer. The magnetic grids at the front to the speakers can be painted to match any colour, in this case a beautiful opaque gold.

Bespoke lighting installations, such as a hand-finished bone china sculpture from Haberdashery of London’s ‘Leaf’ collection, add opulent detail to the Crestron showroom for an inspiring design showcase that will excite interior designers and their clients alike.

Alison Smith, Design and Production Assistant at Haberdashery comments, “We are delighted to have placed one of our Leaf products in the Crestron showroom; Haberdashery and Crestron have often worked together in some of the world's most exclusive developments to deliver bespoke solutions for clients through light.”

Renowned lighting designer and Creative Director at Light IQ, Rebecca Wier adds, “Light IQ is proud to have assisted in the refurbishment of Crestron's luxurious London showroom. Updated LED technology and stunning installations by Haberdashery and Cox London have created a destination for the discerning interior designer.”

Above the dinning table a metal and glass lighting sculpture demonstrates how are and functionality can be combined. Designer Christopher Cox of Cox London comments: “We think of our lighting and furniture as artworks and we know they hit another level when lit properly.  Working with Crestron's highly advanced home automation means that the light that our chandeliers give out is as controllable as the light directed onto them from elsewhere in the room. In this way, working with the Crestron team means seeing our work at its atmospheric best.”

The furniture has the stylish touch of the Italian. Tristan Forrest, Managing Director of Cassina/Poltrona Frau, UK & Ireland explains, “As the pre-eminent luxury furniture design brand, Poltrona Frau recognised an opportunity to partner with Crestron to showcase both companies’ peerless design and technical prowess. The purpose was to create a dialogue between architects, interior designer and consumers.”
